An archipelago is never experienced as a single place. Each island carries its own landscape, its own light, and its own rhythm, yet the ocean that separates them also binds them together. The islands differ remarkably from one another: there are some lush and tropical, with abundant vegetation, while others are defined by deserts, endless beaches, or volcanic landscapes. Moving through Cabo Verde means constantly shifting between these distinct environments, between winding roads, small settlements, and horizons that stretch beyond the land.
What remains is not a single view, but a different relationship with time. The islands reveal themselves gradually, through changing light, long distances, and the subtle transitions from one landscape to the next. The terrain asks to be crossed slowly, allowing its scale, textures, and silences to emerge over time.
Together, the islands form a whole greater than their individual landscapes. Like the instruments of an orchestra, each one possesses its own character and voice, yet together they compose Cabo Verde.
These photographs do not seek to define the archipelago, nor to offer a complete portrait of it. Instead, they trace a journey across places that are distinct yet deeply connected, gathering moments where land, sea, and traces of human presence quietly coexist. They reflect an experience in which journey between islands becomes as meaningful as the landscapes themselves.
